The maiden edition of the league came off on February 18 at the Sakumono Tennis Club, involving 50 young tennis players comprising 36 boys and 14 girls who received medals and souvenirs from sponsors for their exceptional performance.

According to the organisers, the year-long tournament is aimed at promoting education and health through sports, as well as unearthing  talents  among the youth in and around  the Sakumono, Tema and Ashaiman communities.

Winners of the various categories will not only be sponsored to participate in other tennis tournaments, but also have their school fees paid to motivate them to focus on their academic work.
