Although the competition was still in the quarter-final stage at the time of going to press yesterday, both players have been the stand-out performers after three days of tennis action at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Setodji and Bageraseh have been placed at the opposite ends of the draw and are likely to offer tennis fans quite a spectacle on Sunday on account of their performances so far.

However, both players will have to be wary of potential banana peels in the latter stage of a competition which has already produced its fair share of shocks, with number two seed Magliore Yakpa of Benin suffering a humiliating 4-6, 7-6 (5) 6-2 exit at the hands of Togolese wildcard Jean Kandangah in the first round.

Setodji booked his place in the quarters after wins against Kwabena Ofosu Bamfo (6-1, 6-1) and Francis Akpese (6-1, 3-6, 6-3) and now faces Ivorian Joel Meda.

If successful, a potentially explosive tie against the winner of the duel between the highest-ranked Ghanaian, Wisdom Na-Adjrago, and Bernard Ashittey Armah awaits in the semi-finals.

For Bagerbaseh, he faces familiar foe Bernard Dugbah in the quarters after beating Ivorian Kofi Guillaume (2-6, 6-4, 6-4) and Pascal Ziyab (6-1, 6-3) in the last 16.

If he progresses, his reward will be a clash against dangerous Beninois hitter, Felix Hounkpevi, who booked his slot in the semis after a 6-3, 6-3 demolition Joel Kandangah yesterday.
