Young master Awuah Boateng defeated his colleagues from his category in Poomse--the basic techniques in the sport and displayed brilliant skills in sparring matches against his opponents to receive a brand-new bicycle, a medal, an undisclosed cash reward and a certificate of participation.

His compatriot Latifa Moahmmed won the girls’ overall best fighter and was rewarded with a medal, a table-top freezer and a certificate of participation.

More than 300 participants from various taekwondo clubs across the country and outside Ghana took part in the annual event.

International taekwondo referee and chairman of the Greater Accra Taekwondo Association, Master Norbert Amefu, who initiated the competition, said it aimed to tap talents of the national cause.

Master Amefu told the Graphic Sports the winners have great potential of making a case at next Olympics in 2020 in Tokyo.
