Awomefia honours Sunset Sports Keta

Sunset Sports Keta, a beach soccer team in  the Volta Region has been commended by the Awomefia of Anlo State, Togbi Sri III, for their exploits in the national beach soccer championship.

Togbi Sri also praised the team  for promoting sports development in the Anlo State and in the region.

The Keta-based side has won two league titles in two years- the champion-of- champions shield and various individual awards by players.

They also  contributed three players to the Black Sharks (Ghana’s National Beach Soccer team) that played in the country’s first ever international tournament in El-Jadida, Morocco, in May 2013.

Togbi Sri, who presented a citation to the CEO of Sunset Sports Keta, Mr Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe, at the grand durbar to mark this year’s Anlo Hogbetsotso festival, also lauded the team for maintaining very high standards in the national beach soccer league.

“There is hope our youth can achieve success in what they set out to do. Your effort in beach soccer reminds me of the bravery of our ancestors. I urge you not to rest on your oars but continue to make waves globally”.

Mr Adjahoe for his part expressed his appreciation to the management of Aborigines beach resorts and all who supported the club financially at various stages.

He gave the assurance  to make Keta, the beach soccer hub in Ghana and the sub region. 

Sunset Sports Keta are currently tied at the top of the national championship on 39 points with rivals Havedzi Warriors in 15 games, but with a better goal difference.
