Ashgold beat WAFA to move up

Two goals, one in each half, gave Ashgold the maximum points as they defeated WAFA 2-0 in their outstanding  Premier League match played at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi yesterday.

In  a match watched by the Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, the Soccer Miners shot into the lead in the 36th minute through Hans Kwofie and doubled the lead two minutes into the second half through Samed Ibrahim to push Ashgold up from the 14th position to the 12th position on the league log with 31 points, ahead of Liberty Professionals and 14th-placed Tema Youth.

The Premier League has taken a one-month break and will resume on August 27. WAFA have another outstanding match to clear when they play host to Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday, August 23 at Sogakope.

On Sunday, Kotoko will clear the first of two outstanding matches when they welcome archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak to the Baba Yara Stadium in one of the competition’s most anticipated clashes.
