Gyan was reportedly injured on Monday, March 27 during Al Ahli’s 2-0 defeat at Uzbek side Tashkent Lokomotiv in the Asian Champions League.

However, Gyan recovered in time to record an assist as Al Alhi moved to within six points of Al Jazira with six rounds of matches to end the UAE season.

The first half of the game ended goalless with all three goals coming in the final 22 minutes at a poorly attended Rashid Stadium.

UAE champions - Al Ahli - had Everton Ribeiro to thank as the livewire Brazilian swept home the winner after substitute Asamoah Gyan had miscued his shot with only five minutes remaining.

Ali Mabkhout put visitors Al Jazira ahead in the 68th minute finishing a rebound after his initial effort from the penalty spot was saved by Al Ahli goalie Majed Naser.

Al Ahli grabbed the equaliser in the 76th minute when Salmeen Khamis nodded home a rebound off the crossbar before Ribeiro tapped-in at the far post after Gyan's mis-hit.
