Ayew, 26, moved to West Ham from Swansea for a $20.5 million fee, however, he picked up an injury just 34 minutes into his competitive debut against Chelsea in August.

Ayew was out of action for over two months and missed the Black Stars disappointing FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda.

He made a return to the West Ham team as a substitute in Wednesday's 2-1 EFL Cup victory over Chelsea.

His return to action represents a huge boost for the Hammers who have struggled in the league and the Black Stars who face Egypt in a crucial World Cup qualifier next month.

Ayew expressed delight about his return in a post on Instagram Thursday night.

He posted: "I'm really glad that I was able to get back on the field yesterday. I'm so grateful for all the support I received and it definitely kept me driven to recover faster. I can't thank the medical staff of West Ham enough for the big role they played in getting me back into shape and they were amazing @stijnvdb i also thank my Doctor Christophe Baudot and physio Jerome Palestri for also helping me when I was in France during my rehab they also played a big role. Most importantly I want to thank my West Ham fans for standing by me and motivating me when I was down. And to my GHANAIAN PEOPLES thank you for your prayers and massive support. I'm BACK and I promise to give my all to make all of you supporting me proud!! God bless you".

West Ham face Everton this weekend and Ayew will be hoping to make a return to the starting line-up for Slaven Bilic's side.
