Amponsah, one of the medal hopefuls for Ghana at the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, who failed to advance to the final of the 200 metres, said her failure was due to an injury she sustained while preparing for the competition.

According to her, she recovered from the harmstring injury two weeks before the competition, but after competing in the preliminaries, the injury resurfaced.

“I was feeling well before the Games, but it looks like it’s becoming worse.

“I have few days to assess my injury and if it does not improve, I will go for thorough medical examination.

“The examination will determine whether I will participate in the continental event or not. But I am not going to stress myself if I dont see any improvement in my health”, Amponsah stated.

Ghana is expected to participate in the African Athletics Championship in Morocco next month.
