Amesiame wins K’dua Millennium Marathon

A first year student of the Koforidua Polytechnic, Prosper Amesiame, won the Eastern Regional version of the 10.5 kilometre Millennium Marathon, with a time of 28.18 minutes.

Amesiame’s time also broke the existing Regional Millennium Marathon record of 29 minutes.

He received a certificate and a flat screen television set.

The second position was jointly won by Kwame Kyeremeh and Kobina Frimpong, both of who received certificates and fridges, while Roland Tetteh was third.

In the womens' division, a policewoman, Josephine Kwakye, beat the pack to win the first position, while Emmanuella Edu and Bernice Tutua came second and third respectively.

In an address after the race, the Eastern Regional Minister, Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, congratulated the participants for their dedication, determination and self-motivation during the race.

He urged the winners to continue to train harder towards the International Athletics Competition scheduled for Accra on September 6, 2015.

He hoped they would make the Eastern Region proud during the competition.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr.Victor Xola Senaya, also congratulated the winners and urged them to train harder.
