With WAFA’s game against Asante Kotoko postponed to enable Kotoko recuperate from a tragic accident two weeks ago, Aduana jumped to the summit with 44 points, one more than the academy lads who have two games.

The story was different at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts of Oak displayed a magnificent football to beat visiting Tema Youth 3-1 to maintain their winning ways having defeated Berekum Chelsea two weeks ago at the same venue, writes Peter Sarbah.

Thomas Abbey emerged hero for after scoring twice — one goal in either half — for the Phobians. The offensive midfielder opened the scoring in the 30th minute from a spot kick after Tema Youth defender Baba Musa handled a cross from Patrick Razak as the Phobians went on the attack.

Hearts could have registered a cricket score line but for wasted opportunities from winger,Razak who shot into the waiting hands of Tema Youth goalkeeper, Stephen Kwaku, in the first minute before fluffing the rebounder.

Playmaker Winful Cobbinah marshaled the Hearts midfield and often cut through from the flanks to distribute the ball to Kwame Kizito and Isaac Mensah but they could not find the net.

After recess, Hearts maintained the pressure on the visitors and 12 minutes into the second half, their effort paid off when Kizito profited from a rebound to head home for the second goal.

Tema Youth barely created any chances except for nimble-footed midfielder, Gabriel Leveh, who gave Hearts centre-back Robin Gnagne, difficult time, but Vincent Atinga was quick to cover-up for him.

Five minutes to regulation time, Tema Youth clawed a goal back when Joseph Paintsil converted from the penalty spot. Leonard Tawiah had clumsily tackled Tawfik Mohammed in the penalty box for referee Isaka Afful to award the penalty.

When it appeared the scoreline would stay the same, Abbey finished off a great move with a fine strike having dribbled his way through the Tema Youth defence to fire past goalkeeper Kwaku.

At other centres Elmina Sharks made a strong statement about their desire to stay in the top flight when they beat Bechem United 2-1 at the Ndoum Park for their fourth consecutive victory.

Liberty Professionals pushed Ashgold back into the relegation zone with a 1-0 win at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman though a late goal by Ernest Papa Arko.

Wa All Stars secured a vital away point when they drew 2-2 with Ebusua Dwarfs at the Cape Coast Stadium, while Berekum Chelsea humiliated bottom club Bolga All Stars 4-0, but relegation-threatened Accra Great Olympics bounced back to beat Inter Allies 1-0 at the El Wak Stadium.
