Aduana dare Kotoko - As skipper Frimpong promises to break winless streak

Kumasi Asante Kotoko skipper, Amos Frimpong, has thrown down the gauntlet saying his teammates are ready to fight till their last breath to ensure they deliver victory to the fans when they host Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium today.

The Porcupine Warriors have been without a win in their last five games and skipper Frimpong admits the task of breaking that jinx seem daunting although they are ready to put their best foot forward to reverse the trend.

"It is going to be very difficult against Aduana considering their form so far in the league but we are ready for them tomorrow," Frimpong told the Graphic Sports in a telephone interview yesterday.

This game is another test for stop-gap coaches, Godwin Ablordey and Frimpong Manso.

Winning the first game since Kotoko’s loss to Hearts in Accra will require tactical adjustments, with Frimpong returning to his right back position while Abeiku Ainooson could be paired with Awal Mohammed at the heart of defence with Eric Donkor manning the left-back. The midfield and attack could be dominated by Yakubu Mohammed, Safo Gyamfi, Ollenu Ashitey, Ben Atta Kusi, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Micheal Akuffu.

Despite the fans’ anger, the Kotoko skipper does not feel the team is under any pressure in today’s clash. “We are focused on ending our winless run against them but I don't think the team is under pressure to deliver,” he said.

Aduana skipper, Godfred Saka, who would be returning after serving two-match suspension following his red card against Olympics, refrained from commenting on the team but was confident they had a better chance of upsetting Kotoko.

Accra Hearts of Oak would miss the services of three key stars, Cosmos Dauda, Inusah Musah and Robin Gnagne, who are all recovering from injuries, when they trek to the Utrecht academy park to play Bolga All Stars.

Elsewhere, Tema Youth welcome Accra Great Olympics to the Tema Sports Stadium, Wa All Stars trek to the Berekum Golden City Park to encounter Berekum Chelsea, while Bechem United welcome Ebusua Dwarfs to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

Coach C. K Akonnor would hope to inspire struggling Ashgold to victory when they host Medeama SC, Elmina Sharks could devour Inter Allies at the Ndoum Stadium, while Liberty Professionals and WAFA could bring the Sogakope park alive when the two sides clash.
