Ablordey, a former captain of Kotoko, will act until a new substantive coach is appointed to replace the 52-year-old Croat who was dismissed for unimpressive results.

The Kotoko management decided to part ways with Lugarusic late last Sunday after a stormy meeting in Kumasi, following the club’s second home drawn game at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi against Ebusua Dwarfs.

In an audio message copied to the Daily Graphic, the club's Communications Manager,  Obed Acheampong,  said the two parted ways on mutual grounds.

Despite helping the club to occupy the second spot on the 16-club league on 19 points, Lugarusic's sack was to be anticipated after he was chased out of the Ajako Jachie training grounds last Friday by irate fans.

He has been criticised for his unfriendly 3-5-2 system which many say is the main contributing factor to the team's sudden decline in performance.

Angry fans nearly vented their spleen on the coach and the playing body last Sunday after the second home drawn game, but for the swift intervention  of the Asokwa police team.

This latest development in Kotoko is a repeat of what happened almost a year ago when fans’ agititation caused the removal of David Duncan, who was replaced by his assistant, Michael Osei.
