The annual video contest, which was initiated by the GTF last year, attracted all registered taekwondo clubs in the country which submitted a three-minute video based on a story with the title “How Taekwondo Changed My Life” or a video showing a self-created taekwondo dance, also referred to as taekwondo aerobics.

According to Adnan Lamptey, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the federation, 41 clubs participated in this year’s contest and as part of the competition requirements uploaded their videos on YouTube with titles prefixed ‘I Love Taekwondo’.

He said 20 out of the 41 clubs made it to the first round and will vie for gold, silver and two bronze positions through balloting which will be followed by a selection exercise by a panel of judges during the awards event.

All the 20 clubs will receive 15 taekwondo uniforms each, while the first four clubs to be selected out of the 20 by the judges will be given additional prizes, including protective gears, training equipment and manuals.

Mr Lamptey said the club which wins the gold will, in addition, carry away the coveted taekwondo mat (full plastic ring) worth thousands of US dollars.

As part of the awards ceremony, the videos will be played on the cinema screen as judges award marks to select the best four videos.

The Mamfe Methodist Girls High School won the ultimate last year followed by the Ghana Prisons Taekwondo Club and theWAM Taekwondo Academy.
