The two of them have been suspended indefinitely from the team with immediate effect.

A statement issued by the GFA said the accreditation for the 2014 World Cup for the two players has been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Reason

Whilst Muntari's suspension followed an unprovoked physical attack on an Executive Committee member of the GFA, Mr. Moses Armah on Tuesday June 24, 2014 during a meeting that of Boateng followed his "vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwasi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio this week," the FA’s statement said.

It said Boateng has since showed no remorse for his actions.

The FA’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Saani Daara in an interview with Metro TV said the decision to sack Boateng was taken by coach Kwasi Appiah and management approved of it .

That of Muntari was taken by management, he said.

“We think it is the right way to move forward. Discipline must be instilled in the team.We have taken a strong decision in favour of Ghana football,” Mr Daara said.

Ghana vrs Portugal

The Black Stars play Portugal in their last Group G match and coach Kwasi Appiah and his players have resolved to bury their differences and focus on beating Portugal to enhance their chances of qualifying for the second round.

Ghana need a good win against Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal at the grand national Stadium in Brasilia this afternoon and Kwasi Appiah has said his players are ready for that challenge but their qualification largely hinges on the outcome of the other Group G game between Germany and USA simultaneously in Manaus.

Potential solidarity

When Ibrahim Saani Daara was asked by Metro TV how the latest development in camp will affect the team, he said it was normal that when there was something like this, “there is a potential that people will have some solidarity but at the end of the day “when you land at Kotoka Airport you will all not be going to the same house, you will be going to different houses.”

“And that also defines your career, do you want to serve your country or serve an individual. Is your loyalty to Ghana or to an individual. Those are the key questions."

“Any player who feels that he shows solidarity to any other player and will want to join them, we are prepared to let the person leave….the football association is not happy from the top to the down. The President of the country has been briefed.”

“…if Ghana is to be painted in a negative light, we will not take it. We will save the Black Stars. The Black Stars is not built on individuals”

"Great players have played for this country, has come and gone and so will it be for this generation and future generations," Mr Saani Daara said.
