Kwasi Appiah - Black Stars

Stars coach must choose his own assistants — Nana Fitz

Retired football administrator, Nana Fitz, has urged newly-appointed Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah to reject any attempt by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to impose backroom staff on him.

He said until Appiah became his own man and turned down any imposition by the FA of people who must constitute his technical team, his second stint with the national time might not be significantly different from the previous one.

Even before the FA announced Appiah as the new national team coach, there had been rumours that suggested that Stephen Appiah and Richard Kingson would be appointed to take up various roles in the national team. Although Nana Fitz said he had no problem with these accomplished ex-internationals holding such roles in the national team, Appiah must be given the choice to name his own backroom staff.

The former Kumasi Cornerstones chairman maintained that success or otherwise of Coach Appiah’s second coming would be strongly influenced by the people he chose to work with, as such he must be given the free role in picking whoever he felt comfortable to work with.
