New Edubiase strike Turkish deal

The management of New Edubiase United has secured a sponsorship deal in Turkey which club officials expect will turn their fortunes around and make them one of the country’s most formidable football clubs.

The financial details of the deal, brokered by the club’s vice president, Mr Carl Wilson, were not disclosed. However the Daily Graphic understands it will not only provide respectable salaries for the players and technical staff, but also ensure quality healthcare and insurance packages to motivate the team to achieve laurels in domestic and international competitions.

Mr Wilson confirmed that New Edubiase had struck a deal with Turkish billionaire, Mr Bahrain Demirbilek, after lengthy talks over a partnership to help cushion the Bekwai-based side from their dire financial predicament in the light of the Ghana Football Association’s failure to secure sponsorship for the Premier League.

Mr Wilson noted that it was New Edubiase United president, Abdul-Salam Yakubu, who tasked him to look for corporate sponsors to help improve the fortunes of the club.

“We have been experiencing serious financial challenges of late and it is not easy to play in a league without sponsorship. That’s why we decided to invite people to come on board to  help, and it was my business dealings in Turkey that got me into contact with Mr Demirbilek who readily agreed to come on board,” he explained

He said the Turkish business magnate had now acquired majority shares in the club and was expected to fly down to Ghana to watch New  Edubiase‘s midweek fixture against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium tomorrow.

Besides injecting cash into the club to attract top talents and financing the construction of a football academy to nurture players, the Turkish billionaire is also expected to secure kits for the club, according to Mr Wilson.
