This weekend, Sports Academy host city rivals, Ashtown Ladies in their Match Day 10 fixture and a win for them could see them move to the top or pile more pressure on the leaders, Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

Sports Academy have surprised many with their sterling performance this season and currently are second with 20 points, one point seperating them and Ampem Darkoa, and a win against Ashtown could see them assume the top spot for the first time, and the young ladies, are relishing that chance.

Vivian Konadu Adjei who has scored an incredible 10 goals.

“Our target for our debut in the NWL was to at least, remain in the competition, but having achieved more than we dreamt of, now I think, we would want to try our hands in getting the title. Indeed, opportunity comes but once and if we have that chance, we will certainly take it,” Charles Anokye Frimpong, coach of Sports Academy told the Graphic Sports.

He expects a tough game from Ashtown, but he believes they will still prevail and their worse result at their home in this league, has been a draw.

“Ashtown have always been a difficult side and we expect them to give us a very tough time on Sunday, but we are ready for them; we can not allow them to stop us from marching towards our dream,” he said.

With such a threat from Sports Academy, Ampem Darkoa will have to gird their loins as they host Northern Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park tomorrow.

Northern won the first leg and could dampen the chances of the league leaders if they are taken for granted.

In the southern zone, Immigration Ladies are also out to topple Elmina Sea Lions from the top as they host Samaria Ladies tomorrow.

Immigration are second with 15 points just behind Sea Lions who have 17 points, but Immigration can have their chances boosted if the Disciplinary Committee awards them the points against Holy Royals for their no show on Match Day Eight.

Sea Lions will, meanwhile, also be keen to hold on as they host Lady Strikers in a cagey game at the Nduom Stadium.

In the matches for this weekend, Soccer Intellectuals will play Hasaacas Ladies, Real Upper Ladies are hosts to Fabulous Ladies, while Prisons Ladies trek to Tamale to face Lepo Ladies.
