Maidens double up training for FIFA U-17 World Cup

With their planned training match against Cameroun abandoned at the 11th hour, Ghana’s Under-17 female football team, the Black Maidens, have now resorted to daily double training sessions as they round up their preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup (WWC) in Jordan.

The Maidens arrived in Jordan last week Wednesday, hoping to play fellow African representatives, Cameroun in the friendly, but the Camerounians arrived late, forcing the Maidens to look for alternative plans.

According to the Maidens spokesperson, William Bossman, Coach Evans Adotey and the technical team have been compelled to organise two training sessions just for the girls to step up in form for the competition.

The team however have continued their morning and evening training sessions with Coach Adotey and his assistant, Ben Fokuo instilling the famous, Ghanaian all- attack, all defend, passing game into the girls.

Coach Adotey is, indeed, looking for the best way to get his team to gel and into tournament mood as they face Japan in their opening game, Paraguay and USA in their Group D schedule on October 1, October 4 and October 8 respectively, to push for a place in the next round.

The medical team has also given the players a clean bill, saying all the 21 players are fit and ready to go and there were no injury concerns.
