Last Saturday, Mrs Adeline Cleland, an official with the Ghana High Commission in Nigeria, made the announcement and presentation to the team at their hotel.

Ghana's Mission in Nigeria has oversight responsibility for Cameroun and Mrs Cleland had been with the Queens since last Tuesday.

"Both the Minister and High Commission extend their congratulations for your gallant show in Cameroun. Despite losing out in the final, you have done well by finishing third and the Minister in showing appreciation for your achievement, has asked that you be given this token,"Mrs Cleland said.

Captain Elizabeth Addo expressed the team's appreciation for the kind gesture, but expressed the hope that what was due them in terms of outstanding per diem and bonuses would be paid as soon as they arrived back home.
