Ex-EPL star in Ghana for youth festival at Tema

A former English Premier League(EPL) star, Titus Bramble, together with Simon Milton, director of academy and sales at Ipswich Town, a former EPL side, arrived in Accra last Wednesday as guests of the third youth festival to be held at the Tema park on Saturday.

The two were accompanied by the Managing Director of OMA Group, Gary Miller.

Bramble, who featured for Ipswich Town during his heyday, was delighted to be associated with young talents in Ghana.

“I see this project as an opportunity to give back to the schools what we enjoyed back in the day.

I’ve seen some great Ghanaian talents in the EPL and will like to see some of these young talents in Ghana develop to that level,” he added.

The sports festival is part of the Future Stars Schools Project which is aimed at promoting education and instilling core values through the game of football.

It is being funded by OMA, a leading firm in the maritime industry, in collaboration with OMA Group, Ipswich Town Football Academy and Yinson Holdings Berhad.

Five public schools at Tema, Community Seven Primary School, Community Eight Primary School, Twedease Primary School, Republic Road Primary School and Batsonaa Primary School, are the beneficiaries of the project.

Simon Milton, who has been associated with the project for sometime now, lauded the energy and enthusiasm of Ghanaian young talents.

“They are always eager to learn and excel as compared to their counterparts in England, who have all the facilities at their disposal but are often complacent,” he added.

Mr Gary Miller explained that the decision to invest in the project was part of the company’s Social Responsibility Programme, saying the company would strive  for its sustainance.

“We are thrilled to partner with Ipswich Town Football Academy and Yinson Holdings Berhad and collaborate with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) in this life changing project, which has the potential to impact the entire community”.

“We are delighted with the response to the project so far and look forward to a great event,” he said.
