Can Bechem Utd stop Hearts?

After their abysmal performance against Inter Allies at the Accra Sports Stadium last Sunday, Accra Hearts of Oak face yet another tricky duel at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour park at Bechem tomorrow where they will be hosted by Bechem United, with four games to climax this season’s Premier League.

Hearts have no choice but to fight for the three points in order to douse the flame which is gradually spreading among their fans through to their boardroom.

Bechem United, on the other hand, are well motivated, especially after their suprise 2-0 away victory over Ebusua Dwarfs at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast. The MTN FA Cup finalists are also determined to finish among the top four clubs at the end of the season.

Hearts have not seen the league trophy for the past six years and are convinced this is their season to bounce back and take back the trophy.

However, if their 1-1 against Inter Allies in their own backyard is anything to go by, then the players such as Cosmos Dauda, Isaac Mensah, Sarbahn Laryea, Patrick Razak, Richard Akrofi, Ollennu Ashietey and Sam Yeboah have to put in a lot of effort to change their destiny. Coach Sergio Traguil is well aware of the importance of their encounter tomorrow and so is expected to bring his tactical superiority to bear to put Hearts in a pole position for the title.

But while the Phobians try to find an antidote to their opponents’ challenge,  Bechem top striker Abednego Tetteh has sounded a strong warning to the visitors, vowing to jeopardise their title ambitions tomorrow.

Fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, like their arch-rivals Hearts, are also desperate to see their darling club lift the league trophy again this season. The heat is, therefore, on between the two traditional clubs who are hard on the heels of Wa All Stars and Aduana Stars, which can also not be written off with respect to winning the league this season. The level of optimism between Hearts and Kotoko fans has brought a lot of pressure on the two clubs and their officials who have no other choice than to go all out to win the remaining four matches.

While the title chasers keep the fire burning at the top, the likes of Berekum Chelsea, Liberty Professionals, Techiman City,  Sekondi Hasaacas, Inter Allies and New Edubiase United are also determined to avoid a slip into the wilderness, making the fight to avoid relegation very intense.

This is why Kotoko’s clash with Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tomorrow will be tough. This is because at Berekum, Chelsea were a mouthful for Coach Michael Osei and his boys, thus irrespective of their position, Kotoko must be wary of their opponents who are hungry for victory since a loss tomorrow could be disastrous for them.

League leaders, All Stars, will also be at home against Dreams FC at the Wa park where they will have a slight edge. Second-placed Aduana Stars also trek to Sogakope where they will be tested on the astro turf by WAFA, while Techiman City will be at home to struggling Liberty Professionals, with Ashgold hosting Sekondi Hasaacas at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

In Cape Coast, Ebusua Dwarfs, after their shocking loss to Bechem United, will lock horns with Medeama SC, who have just returned from Algeria after their CAF Confederation Cup elimination, while Inter Allies play New Edubiase United in a bottom-two battle at the Tema Park.
