Black Skates win Binatone Soccer fiesta
Ghana’s skate soccer team, Black Skates, last Sunday shrugged off a stern challenge from rivals, Nigeria, to claim the first "Binatone International Unity Skate Soccer Fiesta" with a 3-2 win at the Black Star Square.

Though the Nigerians were the better side on the day, the newly formed Black Skates had their tactics work for them as they got the goals needed to determine the champions, with captain Gariba Saani, scoring a brace to power his side to victory.
For their prize, the Black Skates took home a giant trophy, as well as products from Binatone.
Individual award winners saw Nigerian player, Abdulai "SAS" Mohammed, emerging as the Most Valuable Player, while Ghana's goalie, Mensah Bilal, was crowned Best Goalkeeper.
Nigerian player Awuta Umar was adjudged the Best Defender and Gariba Sani took home the Goal King award after netting twice.
Skate Soccer is a fast and physical team sport which combines soccer, skating and handball and is usually played by people with physical disability using home-made skateboards.
The Managing Director of Binatone-Ghana, Mr Venu Babu, expressed his satisfaction that Ghana won the tie insisting that it was a step in the right direction as they set their sights on developing the sport in the country.
The Group Chief Executive Officer of Binatone, Sunil Lalvani, revealed that his outfit would host a return fixture in Nigeria which forms part of the various ways to keep the athletes fit.
