As G6 kicks off tomorrow:Ashgold v Chelsea, Hearts v Aduana

Hearts of Oak Japanese coach, Kenichi Yatsuhashi, will be faced with the prospect of exploring what lies ahead in the premier league when his side takes on Aduana Stars in the First Trust G6 Tournament at the Sekondi Essipong Stadium tomorrow.

This will be his first local competition since being drafted to improve the fortunes of the Rainbow club following a woeful finish last season.

Since his arrival, Kenichi has not been the fans’ favourite following disappointing results in his various friendly matches in charge as manager and, subsequently, his poor show in his first international assignment in Libya.

Hearts lost the first leg 3-0 to Ahli in Tripoli and were beaten 2-0 in the second leg to end a disappointing trip to the North African country.

This has mounted pressure on the shoulders of Kenichi as he attempts to savour the rich skills and consistency of Aduana who have been a difficult side since their entry to the top flight several seasons ago.

With the dismissal of experienced stars such as Emmanuel Hayford, Gilbert Fiamenyo and Kwame Kizito the Phobians now lack the needed bite upfront.

But the coach is hoping the introduction of John Abaidoo, Cosmos Dauda, Mustapha Essuman and Patrick Razak would bolster the squad for victory.

Before their game, all eyes would be shifted on the defending league champions, Ashgold, who take on Berekum Chelsea in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter between two heavyweights.

The ‘Miners’ tormented Chelsea during last season and this is a fine opportunity for the Berekum lads to revenge by beating Ashgold to enhance their chances of playing in the final of the competition.

But Coach Bashir Hayford is eager to keep his record intact, and he is ready to ensure Ashgold continue their fine form last season. He has promised to guard the Obuasi club to maintain their status on the local scene by beating Chelsea.
