Appiah to encounter greater challenges - Moses Foh Amoaning

Ace broadcaster and lawyer, Moses Foh Amoaning, says the reappointment of James Kwasi Appiah as head coach of the Black Stars, may not help the development of Ghana football in any way, expressing the fear that he may encounter even greater challenges than before.

In a telephone interview with the Graphic Sports yesterday, the ex-Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) boss said Kwasi would not only face challenges with the GFA’s management structure and their attitude towards him but also with the entire team, whose psychology was broken after the World Cup saga in Brazil.

“Quite a number of the FA people do not like the idea that Kwasi Appiah is coming back. Some of them think he does not have the technical capacity to run the team and some have come out publicly to express their displeasure over his return for the job.

Making references to the recommendations in the Dzamefe Report on the 2014 World Cup saga, Mr Foh Amoaning, who was a member of the committee, added that the appointment of former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah and Richard Kingson as team manager and goalkeepers’ trainer respectively was not right as both men lacked the necessary qualification for the job.

“The FA needs to address the whole technical direction because per the Dzamefe Commission’s Report, there was a whole technical report which we gave after engaging experts. The document gave out how to form a functional technical directorate for the Ghana Football Association and there was a budget which was included in the government White Paper but the FA has pushed those things aside”.

“I will soon address a letter to the FA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports on this issue because there was supposed to be a colloquium after one year to see what had been done and what had not been done. This is mandatory so we will call on the Ministry to look at it again”, he concluded.
