All Stars fall at Dansoman

Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals yesterday stayed above the relegation zone by defeating title favourites Wa All Stars 1-0 to jump to the 11th position on the Premier League log.

A 26th minute goal by striker Latif Blessing was all the homesters needed to bring back the smiles on the faces of the supporters who thronged the venue yesterday.

The game, which started at a slow pace saw the homesters dominating the exchanges and it came as no surprise when the skilful Latif headed home the opener after Samuel Sarfo’s freekick had put him through.

A few minutes later, Liberty made another attempt at goal but Tamimu Muntari’s low shot from the centre  narrowly missed the goal posts to the disappointment of the supporters.

From recess, Liberty maintained their composure and kept piling pressure on the visitors. Benjamin Eshun, who missed several goal scoring opportunities, could have increased the tally in the 62nd minute but his shot from the wings went straight into the hands of goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
