Walter Kautondokwa silences Obodai Sai

Ghana’s middleweight boxer, Obodai Sai, failed to land himself a world title fight after losing by a technical knockout to Namibian pugilist, Walter Kautondokwa, in an IBF & WBO Africa Middleweight Championship bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena last Friday.

Kautondokwa stopped Sai in round five after his left hook sent the Ghanaian to the canvas leading to referee Roger Barnor call off the bout after administering the mandatory eight counts without a response from his countryman.

Both boxers had begun the bout strongly after trading punches but Sai dominated the first three rounds with left and right hooks in a bout which many boxing fans thought would travel the entire 12 rounds.

Kautondokwa's triumph in the world title eliminator could see him move from his current number eight position by the WBO upwards with an impressive record of (15-0, 14 KO’s) with Sai set to drop as the 12th ranked boxer as his ring record now stands (32-3, 24 KO’s).
