The Ghanaian boxer, 26, who is ranked third by the WBA, and has upped his victory to 28 wins unbeaten, told the Graphic Sports in an interview in Accra yesterday that it took experience to defeat the Beninois in the eighth round.

“I expect to be ranked number one at the end of this month and set my eyes on the WBA vacant world title which is yet to be decided”, he told the Graphic Sports.

The Bukom fighter, who is under the promotional label of Landmark Promotions, said he was still interested in brawling with compatriot, IBO lightweight world champion, Emmanuel Tagoe.

According to him, he was prepared for any fighter in his division, both local and foreign, and could not wait to annex a world title this year.

Meanwhile, world title hopefuls, Duke Micah and Ricahrd Commey, are counting their blessings as they await  world title shots after victories in recent bouts at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Both boxers are being managed by the Streetwise Management label headed by UK-based Ghanaian, Amoo Bediako, and trained by veteran trainer Carl Lokko, at Bukom in Accra.

Micah, 25, who defeated Mexican Jonathan Aguilar to become the new WBC International silver bantamweight champion, told the Graphic Sports that he was hopeful to clinch a world title soon to cap his unbeaten streak, which currently sat at 20 to 21.

“Now I am relaxed, I will start training very soon, but I am sure my managers and promoters are planning a big bout for me and which would be soon”, he said yesterday.

Commey, on the other hand, closed a bitter chapter in his stellar career after two unceremonious successive victories over Belgian Hedi Slimani to become the new WBC International gold lightweight champion.

The 30-year-old former kick-boxer, who has a record of 25 wins and two losses, told the Graphic Sports he was upbeat about securing a world title this year.

“ I am just waiting for my manager and promoter to secure a bout for me, which is a world title bout likely this year, for now I am taking a rest and keeping my fingers crossed”, he said.

Commey noted that his career revival after his feat against Slimani showed his greatness and asked his fans to keep up with their prayers for him for the wonders to come.
