According to the 62-year-old royal, he was influenced to rescind his decision also because of a move to make him a Life patron of the GBA which is a very respectable and influential role within the boxing fraternity.

"I have been informed I am going to be the patron of the GBA so there was no need for me to contest a position there" he told this paper in an exclusive interview at his residence in Accra.

He also added that his royal duties have made it impossible for him to devote his time fully as first vice president of the GBA, coupled with mounting legal issues over lands under his ownership.

But the avid boxing fan reiterated his desire to establish a boxing academy soon. He told this paper that the academy -- to be located at James Town and the Old Accra Academy school lands. -- would have an educational institution, a boxing gymnasium and a science lab to help pupils and students alike in their goal towards building a bright future for themselves.
