Cann Kotey Neequaye. Set to become world champ someday
Many will look at him with raised eyebrows due to his little fingers and muscles but the young talented boxer, Cann Kotey Neequaye, is determined to follow in the footsteps of boxing legends such as David Kotei (DK) Poison, Azumah Nelson, Alfred Kotey and Ike Quartey.

The 10-year-old pupil of the Starward Preparatory School at Awudome Estate in Accra and a protege of boxing legend Azumah Nelson is bidding his time as he warms himself up into the sport.
Kotey Neequaye was spotted at the Zoom Zoom gym of champion Azumah Nelson busily hitting mitts and punching bags while he told the Junior Graphic about how eager he was to take after his role model, Muhammad Ali of blessed memory.
He currently trains at the Seconds Out Gym after school and despite the heavy toll of combining school work and sports, the young boxer appeared ready for the task.
The young lad who was lively during the interview told the Junior Graphic that he loves boxing and would stop at nothing in achieving his dream of becoming a world champion.
“In boxing you don’t have to focus on the pain when you are hit or lose a fight but rather focus on the fight and that is what I do,” he stated.
Kotey Neequaye’s potential was unearthed by his own father, boxing manager and promoter, Abraham Kotey Neequaye, who managed Braimah Kamoko aka Bukom Banku and Emmanuel Gameboy Tagoe.
“ I saw the potential in him after I took him to a street fight at Kaneshie where he met and fought the most dreaded kid on the street called Kwaku Bonsam and surprisingly, defeated him in a brawl,” he stated.
According to Mr Kotey Neequaye, he ensures that the young boxer leads a disciplined life which includes waking up very early in the morning and going to the gym before he sets off for school.
He believes the sky is the limit for Cann and having tried and tested him, it is his belief that he would become a world champion someday.
