Azumah cautions Dogboe to be wary of opponent

Ghanaian boxing legend, Azumah Nelson, has cautioned bantamweight pugilist, Isaac Dogboe, to be careful of Argentine boxer, Javier Chacon, when the two square off in a WBO International Super Bantamweight Championship at the Bukom Boxing Arena tomorrow night.

Azumah, a former three-time world champion in the featherweight and super featherweight divisions, advised Dogboe to study his opponent before attempting a knockout in their world title eliminator.

He warned the undefeated boxer to desist from going for the kill from the first round and stated that Dogboe must fight and win convincingly on point, if the bout travels to its full length.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports last Wednesday, Azumah said he was hopeful of a win for the Ghanaian, despite admitting that the bout would be a tough one.

“I think he must be careful of his opponent. He must study him before opening up for a knockout, if possible.

“It is always good to study your opponent in a fight and I know Dogboe knows that. The fight will be a tough one for sure but I trust him to carry the night,” Azumah said.

“Knockout comes by itself in boxing so all you must do as a boxer is to target the points and then take him out when the need arises,” he stresssed.

Azumah also advised Dogboe to stay focused in the ring and come out victorious but must respect his opponent because he is in the ratings.

Dogboe (16-0-10 KOs) couLd get a dream world title shot in the WBO division if he is able to overcome a strong opponent in Chacon (29-25-1-3) tomorrow night.
