Ghanaian boxing judge, Ataa Eddie Pappoe, has been selected as one of  three judges to officiate in tomorrow’s fight between German Marco Huck and Latvian Mairis Briedis slated for tomorrow at Westfalenhalle in the German city of Dortmund for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) cruiserweight title.

Mr Pappoe, the renowned boxing official, was recently a judge in three world title bouts involving Richard Commey, Duke Micah and Frederick Lawson at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Prior to his departure for Dortmund yesterday, he expressed his happiness at the opportunity to officiate in the upcoming cruiserweight fight as he told the Graphic Sports in an interview that he would relay the experience gained to other Ghanaian boxing judges.

“I am happy that the WBC has recognised my potential and I would make Ghana proud in Germany”, he noted.

Huck, 32, will fight Breidis, also the same age, for the vacant belt after an elevation in the weight divisions of the two boxers following the Tony Bellew victory over David Haye in the WBA heavyweight division earlier this month.

Mr Pappoe is a board member of the GBA, a board member of the WBC and a former president of the Afirca Boxing Union (ABU) ring officials.

Mr Pappoe is expected back in the country on Monday.
