Tension mounts at South Dayi over New DCE

Tension is mounting in the South Dayi District following the appointment of Madam Ella Boateng as the new District Chief Executive for the area.

Some irate New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive members including the First Vice Chairman, Mr Humphery Amoaku, who claimed the President’s appointee had never been a loyal and committed party member, have given President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo a 24-hour ultimatum to revoke her appointment and replace it with Mr Ernest Patrick Mallet or they would advise themselves.

Shocked by news

At a press conference addressed at Peki Avetile, the Communications Director of the South Dayi NPP, Mr Daniel Duodu, said they were shocked by the appointment of Madam Boateng  instead of Mr Mallet whom they considered as a true son of the party and the constituency with an impeccable track record to head the district.

“It is also true that the President has the prerogative to appoint chief executives, but it is true that the  President does not know everybody in every district. So people put in place to brief the President in the case of the vetting committee mislead him,” Mr Duodu said.

The communications officer said members were against her appoinment because she was not qualified for the position since she was voted out as an assembly member for non-performance and also a ‘reject of the NDC’.

Not loyal member

Explaining further, Mr Duodu said Madam Boateng had never attended any of their general meetings and was, therefore, not considered a committed member  eligible for the position.

“Since she is not loyal to the NPP, we do not see how she can execute the ambitious programmes of the President,” he added.

He stated that they found out from the vetting committee that her name was not shortlisted because  she placed sixth out of the 10 applicants, “but her name fraudulently and maliciously found its way onto the list to the dismay of the majority of vetting committee members”.
