Support govt to meet goals - MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central, Mr Kwabena Bempong, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to support the government to enable it to achieve its development goals.

He stressed that the government’s determination to provide accelerated development for the country would be a mirage if Ghanaians, especially NPP loyalists, sat aloof or failed to give it the needed support.

Mr Bempong made the call when he addressed the annual delegates’ conference of the Asene-Manso-Akroso Constituency of the NPP at Akyem Eshiem in the Eastern Region last Thursday.

He promised to give logistic support to NPP communication officers in the municipality for them to effectively educate the masses on government policies and programmes to keep them abreast of national issues.

Mr Bempong promised to improve the lighting system in all communities in the municipality to improve security for the people.

Concern

The MCE and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asene-Manso-Akroso, Mr George Kwame Aboagye, expressed concern about the revelation that both males and females shared the same ward at the Akyem Akroso Health Centre and promised to do everything possible to address the issue.

Mr Aboagye, the MP, was full of praise for NPP members, supporters and sympathisers for working very hard for the party to clinch a resounding victory in the December 7, 2016 general election.

He, however, urged them not to relax but continue to work for the NPP to reign for years in order to provide the people with more development projects.

The MP said as many as 29 communities in the constituency would be connected to the national grid this year under the Self-Help Electrification Project (SHEP).

He gave an assurance that the NPP government would fulfil all its campaign promises to bring lasting relief for all Ghanaians.

Exercise restraint

The Eastern Regional Treasurer of the NPP, Mr James Appietu-Ankrah, advised party members to exercise restraint for the government to put things in order to create jobs for the teeming unemployment youth in the country.

He also gave an assurance that the one-district one-factory concept would take off in the second half of 2017.

Mr Appietu-Ankrah praised polling station executives at the national, regional, constituency and ward levels for working tirelessly for the NPP to win the 2016 general election.

Other speakers at the function included Mr Jerry Osei-Poku, the Eastern Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP, and Mr Frank Anim-Bediako, the Asene-Manso-Akroso Constituency NPP Chairman.
