Shai Osudoku collation centre ready to collate votes

Counting has begun at most polling stations in the Shai Osudoku Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, reports Mabel Aku Baneseh and Chris Nunoo.

Voting has ended at 90 polling stations with high voter turnouts, according to presiding officers.

A total of 46,357 voters are expected to cast their ballots at the 90 polling stations.

Emmanuel Maatey Tetteh of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Nene Oyortey, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Solomon Dorh are contesting for the parliamentary slot.

Some of the polling stations visited were the Post Office A and B, RC Church Djagletey and Coleman Polling Station among many others.

The atmosphere at the various polling stations was generally peaceful.

Projector Ready
The Collation Centre situated within the Dodowa District Court has a huge projector to relay collated results live.

Unlike in 2012 where the results were recorded manually, this year’s would be done electronically.

Electoral Officers and Returning Officers at the Constituency are on standby to project the results live.

Police officers, polling agents for the candidates, journalists and election observers are on standby to observe proceedings. There is a standby generator to provide electricity in the event the lights go off.
