Reject politicians who want to stimulate trouble — Sheikh Shaibu

The Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu, has advised Muslim youth to be vigilant and reject any attempt by any politician to use them to stir up trouble during the upcoming general election.

“Let no young Muslim be the reason why a drop of blood is shed on the face of the earth in the name of elections,” he advised.

Sheikh Shaibu gave the advice during an Iftar, a break of fast, with some Muslim journalists in Accra organised by the Light Foundation, a non-governmental organisation.

The event was also to allow the journalists to get acquainted with the activities of the foundation, especially on its upcoming project dubbed: “Muslim and Zongo Communities Unite for Peaceful Elections.”

The project, on the theme: “Let’s live together, let’s live peacefully,” is intended to educate all youth groups within Zongo communities to participate in healthy discourse before, during, and after the elections rather than exchanging fists.

Don’t exploit loyalty

Shiekh  Shaibu also asked politicians to desist from  exploiting the loyalty that Muslims in Zongo communities gave  them during elections.
