Propagate good works of Mahama -- Veep charges NDC supporters

Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has rounded up his three-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region with rallies where he consistently charged supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to propagate the good works of the Mahama-led administration to improve the electoral fortunes of the party in the 2016 polls.

He used his second and final days to address separate rallies in the Asene-Manso-Akroso, Achiase, Akyim Swedru, Akyem Oda and the Fanteakwa South constituencies where he was joined by other big-wigs of the NDC to make a case for the party to be retained in government.

Mr Amissah-Arthur set off the second day with a visit to the Akrosohene, Nana Kwabena Ofori II, at his palace where he assured the chiefs and people of more development projects in the community should President John Mahama be re-elected.

The Vice-President told them that it was under the NDC government that Okyeman saw accelerated development, noting among others the development of road infrastructure and the provision of water to Kyebi.

Nana Ofori in his response thanked Mr Amissah-Arthur and his entourage for the visit and pledged his support for the re-election bid of President Mahama, arguing that the district had witnessed a facelift under the current administration such as the expansion of school infrastructure and other social infrastructure.

He, however, urged political parties to conduct their campaigns with decorum to ensure a peaceful election.

Akroso went agog when the Vice-President and his team arrived to address a mini-rally at the market square where one speaker after another urged the ecstatic supporters of the NDC to vigorously embark on a door-to-door campaign.

A First Vice-Chairman of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who also addressed the rally, said President Mahama is a unifier and one who represents development, for which reason he ought to be retained to bring more development to the people.

The Vice-President introduced the NDC parliamentary candidate of the constituency, Mr Richard Roland Aquaah, to the people and asked them to vote massively for him.

The campaign train of the Vice-President headed to the Achiase Constituency where he addressed a rally and underscored the need for the people to ensure that the ‘Agenda 50/50’ which the party had set itself to split the votes with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region was achieved.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Bismark Tawiah Boateng, who set the tone for the address, told the people of Achiase that it was about time they changed their voting pattern, particularly when the NPP they had always voted for failed to bring any meaningful development to the region during its eight years in government.

Rather, he urged them to stick with the party that meant well and brought accelerated development to them, which in his opinion was the NDC.
