Voting is progressing smoothly at some polling stations in the Klottey Korley constituency, although some instances of ‘missing’ names were recorded.

The missing names, according to some of the presiding officers at the polling stations, were people whose names were in the Electoral Commission’s (ECs) exclusion list, special voters who failed to turn up to vote on December 1 and 2 and people whose names were not in the voters register at all.

For exclusions, there were three instances at the Additrom Polling Station, two at Nayak, one at Letamens Bakery A, and one case of a voter expected to have voted in the special voting.

Graphic Online's Peggy Addo also reports that ten persons whose names were on the excluded list but attempted to vote at the Nayak c100111 Polling Station in the Klottey Korle constituency were turned away.

The presiding officer explained that the persons were on the list as a result of certain electoral offenses they committed in the past. Voting commenced at 10.20am.

At the Letemens Bakery polling station, voting started at exactly 7am due to the fact that election materials arrived on time. When the Daily Graphic visited the centre at 10.10 am, the usually long queued associated with the polling station was missing as it had been divided into A and B for the 2016 elections.

At station A, a total of 174 people had cast their votes against an expected 491. Letemens Bakery B, had recorded a turnout of 157 against an expected of 477.

At the Brotherhood polling station, 230 voters had cast their vote as at 9.43 am, while the expected the turnout of 697.

The situation at the Nayak Polling station was no different. Voting was moving on smoothly; as at 9.48 am 138 people had voted with expected turnout at 584.

When the Daily Graphic got to the Additrom School Polling station at 9.54am, 148 people had voted, against 597 people. The Presiding Officer, Mr Abubakar Sadick Osumanu said voting started 7.10am and it has been smooth so far.

He said the only hitch was when people showed up at the station to vote because they had registered there and their names were not in the register.

He however, explained that calm returned when they were directed to their respective polling stations.
