NPP members asked to learn party’s ideologies
A senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman, has advised party members to learn and understand the party's ideologies and philosophy.

This, according to him, would enable members to propagate the good works and initiatives that the NPP stood for and help the party move forward.
He said there was the need to organise workshops to sensitise party members to the party's philosophy because at constituency, polling station, regional and national levels, there was a great responsibility on leaders and members and it was important for them to know what they stood for.
Mr Owusu-Agyeman said this when he addressed party faithful at the NPP Eastern Regional delegates conference in Koforidua last Wednesday.
Conference
The conference was on the theme: “Sustaining grass-roots mobilisation towards victory 2020”.
He charged those in leadership positions in the party at various stages to address the issue of indiscipline that had emerged in the party in recent times with some executive members failing to honour meetings, adding that they should instil discipline among party members.
He was of the view that the NPP had the tendency to lay a solid foundation for the country to the extent that we would not need the patronage of anyone to move the country forward but our own entrepreneurship.
Mr Owusu Agyeman called on party members to rally behind the President's vision and initiatives, adding: "If we are able to govern well to the satisfaction of Ghanaians, then we are likely to stay in power even till 2030".
Discerning electorate
The acting General Secretary of the NPP, Mr John Boadu, reminded party members how discerning the Ghanaian electorate had become and said even with good governance and infrastructure development by the erstwhile Kufuor government, Ghanaians voted against the NPP in the 2008 election.
This, he said, was an indication that performance alone was not the way to go, however, Ghanaians wanted to see something different from the NPP such as humility, respect and good communication.
He advised government appointees to always support their regions and constituencies because that was where their efforts would be acknowledged.
Mr Boadu said soon, the party would be electing new officers and hoped that after the congress, peace would prevail.
He noted that the government believed in individuals and the private sector to drive the economy and that should the party stay in power for long, Ghanaians would achieve their targeted dreams.
Proposals
The conference gave delegates the opportunity to propose and pass a resolution for national executive consideration.
Another resolution proposed was that all party officers from the constituency, region and national levels should be included in the voting of the national women organiser, youth organiser and the national NASARA coordinator.
The last resolution proposed was for the national executive to take a second look at the party's constitution, particularly article 6(b) and (c) which were inconsistent with each other.
The article (b) seeks to request a member aggrieved by a decision of the national executive to appeal to the disciplinary committee, while 6(c) seeks to request a member aggrieved by a decision of the national executive committee to appeal to the national council.
