Nduom bemoans soaring unemployment

The flag bearer of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has said that President John Mahama's failure to make job creation his top most priority has led to the soaring unemployment rate among the youth, especially the university graduates.

He has, therefore, urged all tertiary students in the country to use the December 7 Elections to fight for their future by voting for a leader that has their interest at heart.

Dr Nduom said this when he addressed both students from University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Cape Coast Nursing Training College.

The two institutions converged at UCC's main auditorium to listen to the PPP's flag bearer's vision for them should he become the president of Ghana.

Dr Nduom said Ghana under his leadership would not allow graduates to sit at home idle because there would be enough jobs for them after school.

"I will take four years to build a solid economy that will offer enough jobs for all the youth. No graduate will sit at home idle after school," he said.

Earlier, Dr Nduom had held three separate mini-rallies at Abura-Aseibu Kwamankese, Gomoa West and Winneba. He addressed the supporters and reminded them of their role in the December elections.

Dr Nduom also used the occasion to introduce his parliamentary candidates to the people.

At one of the constituencies he visited, Dr Nduom promised to donate two computers and a football jersey to a school after the teachers had met him and appealed for assistance.

Your future is safe with PPP

Addressing the students, Dr Nduom lamented how difficult it was for graduates to find jobs in Ghana, saying that job hunting had now become the headache of all  tertiary students.

He said now it was extremely difficult to convince the youth to take education seriously because there were no jobs for them after they had spent huge resources to get themselves educated.

Under his leadership, Dr Nduom said the lack of jobs for the youth would not exist under his watch because he knew how to create jobs for the youth.

Outlining some of the ways he intended to generate jobs, Dr Nduom said he would not use state money to import any food but rather use the money to establish factories that would create job opportunities for the youth.

He said he would establish a rice mills factory in all the regions to produce quality rice, adding that in four years, Ghana would seize to spend millions of dollars on importation of rice.

One of the reasons for Ghana's inability to create jobs, Dr Nduom said, was that the leadership of the country had mortgaged the country's resources to foreigners.

That, he said, had made foreigners control the country's resource, making them dictate the terms of business.

Dr Nduom blamed President John Mahama for the growing unemployment rate among the youth, saying: "as long as Ghana continues to mortgage its resources to foreigners, the country can never solve the unemployment problem".

Nduom doesn't need your money

The Central Regional Chairman of the PPP, Mr Andrews Sefa, said Dr Nduom's obsession with the creation of jobs was his major reason for vying for the presidential seat.

"Dr Nduom doesn't need Ghana's money for anything. All he is asking from the electorate is an opportunity to improve the well-being of the citizens," he said.

Mr Sefa said the PPP was the only political party that had the team to lead Ghana to its desired future, adding that any vote for Dr Nduom "will not be a wasted vote".
