NDC director of elections killed in road crash

The Central Regional Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Yaw Asiedu is reported dead.

He was said to have died in a road crash on Tuesday whilst transporting NDC copies of Pink Sheets [Statement of Poll and Results Sheet] collected from agents in the Central Region to the national headquarters of the party in Accra.

The Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Mr Allotey Jacobs has confirmed the incident.

Asiedu was said to be traveling with the Central Regional Treasurer of the NDC, Mr Eric Essuah who sustained injuries from the accident and was currently receiving medical attention at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The fatal accident was said to have occurred on the Apam -Winneba stretch of the Cape Coast-Accra road.

They were reportedly taken to the Specialist and Trauma Hospital in Winneba and later transferred to the 37 Military Hospital but Asiedu, a lawyer by profession reportedly did not survive.

Asiedu, a hard working director of elections was very instrumental to the Central Regional branch of the NDC.

Ahead of Election 2016, he represented the NDC at a Town Hall meeting organised by the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) in Cape Coast on September 21, 2016 and excellently articulated the policies and campaign message of the NDC, when he shared the stage with the opposition New Patriotic Party's Central Regional Secretary, Mr Kwamena Duncan.
