NDC commissions 5 working committees for 2016
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is positioning itself to retain political power by winning ‘’one touch’’ in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.

In line with this objective,five working committees have been inaugurated in Accra to complement the efforts of the party officers to prepare the party for 2016.
The working committees inaugurated by the National Chairman, Mr Kofi Portuphy, yesterday are the Elections, Communication, Social Services, Economic and Finance.
The inauguration of other committees, namely the Political; Complaints and Conflict Resolution, and Legal and the Disciplinary has, however, been deferred to today.
Committee members
The Election Committee has 23 members, including Magaret Chiravira,Mr Daniel Amartey, Kofi Adams, Yaw Boateng Gyan and Danny Annan.
The Communication Committee has 22 members, including Mr Kofi Totobi Quakyi, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Mr Fiifi Kwetey, Ms Hanna Tetteh, Mr Solomon Nkansah, Mr Koku Ayidoho, Mr James Asante, Ms Anita Desoso and Dr Ekow Spio Garbah
The 28 member Social Services Committee includes Mr Ludwig Hlodze, Mr Collins Dauda, Nana Oye Lithur and Mr Lee Ocran.
The 23-member Economic Committee includes Vice-President Paa Kwasi Bekoe Amissah Arthur, Kofi Portuphy, Moses Asaga, Haruna Iddrisu, Sylvester Mensah, Alex Mould, Eddie Annan, Dr Sipa Yankey, Torgbui Afede and Mr Seth Terkper.

The Finance Committee members include the General Secretary of NDC, National Treasurer, Deputy National Treasurer, one National Officer and three officers from the Presidency.
Collective responsibility
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mr Portuphy charged the members to work as a team since winning the 2016 elections was a collective responsibility.
He explained that when the party stood united, it would be difficult for it to be defeated in any elections but as individuals, it would be easy for the party to be destroyed.
He, therefore, urged the members to speak with one voice on national issues instead of seeing themselves as party and government appointees contradicting each other.
The National Chairman also commended the members for volunteering to work for the party and entreated them to be dedicated in all their endeavours.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said the strength of the party was based on group thinking, adding that any member who failed to attend committee meetings on two occasions would be removed from the committee to pave the way for those ready to work for the party.
Mr Nketiah explained that the NDC was not an election machine that was only active during election but a strong political party contributing to policy dialogue and good governance in the country.
