MP cuts sod for project, donates to Muslims

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency, Mr Nenyi George Andah, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern two-unit kindergarten block with ancillary facilities for the Saint Kilian Catholic Basic School at Awutu Beraku.

The project which is expected to be completed in six months is being supported by Imperial Homes, a property developer, for its 10th anniversary celebration since its establishment.

The project, when completed, is expected to provide world-class education and nurturing for the children.

Essence of project

Mr Andah, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, expressed the hope that by the end of December, a modern KG block that would enhance teaching and learning of pupils at the kindergarten level would be added.

He noted that he had resolved to tackle education in the district from the formative level so that pupils would be provided with a solid foundation that would adequately prepare them throughout their entire education at the basic level.

He indicated that the world of work had become very competitive, which made it important for the current generation to be provided with the correct form of education that would make them competitive on the job market.

According to him, he would put in place the necessary measures and policies that would provide opportunities for pupils to have access to education that would make them responsible, stressing that such a move would enable them to contribute their quota towards the growth of all sectors of the economy.

He thanked Imperial Homes for the timely support and expressed optimism that the relationship would be sustained for the benefit of the people in the constituency.

Executive Director

The Executive Director of Imperial Charity Foundation, Nana Ansah Kwao IV, stated that as part of the 10th anniversary of his outfit, 10 modern kindergarten blocks, one in each region, would be constructed throughout the country.

He mentioned that the projects were being executed as part of the foundation’s corporate social responsibility, adding that “the modern school block to be constructed would be replicated in the other regions”.

He called for support from the community and the district assembly for the project to be completed early.

Reverend Father Stephen Wreko of the St Mark’s Catholic Church, Awutu Beraku, said he was grateful for the establishment of the project which had been a source of worry to him since he was posted to the area about six years ago.

He thanked the MP for being instrumental in selecting the school to benefit from the project in the entire Central Region.

Support to Muslims

In another development, Mr Andah donated food items to the Muslim community as his support for this year’s Ramadan celebration. The items include a quantity of rice, sugar, cooking oil and spaghetti.

In a short address, Mr Andah said the constituency had a huge Muslim community which needed to be supported to successfully celebrate the Ramadan.
