Hassan Ayariga embarks on health project

The Founder and Leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Mr Hassan Ayariga, is funding the construction of a multi-purpose hospital at Haatso near Accra to support the country’s health care.

Mr Ayariga said the decision to undertake the project was his social responsibility of giving back to the society which had helped to mould him, adding that it was also a demonstration of his party’s vision and commitment towards free health care for the country.

The hospital, when completed, will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to take care of the health needs of the people and save hard- earned foreign currency for the country.

It will also have free delivery for pregnant women,   free dialysis for kidney patients and diagnosis for diabetic patients.

Assist poor, needy

Mr Ayariga , who made this known to the Daily Graphic in Accra last Tuesday, said apart from saving foreign exchange, the project would also assist the poor and needy who could not afford the high medical bills paid at foreign hospitals.

He indicated that the hospital would have a counselling outfit for patients with cases such as diabetes to educate them on how to handle their condition.

Project fund

Mr Ayariga said the project, funded from his own resources, partners, philanthropists and corporate bodies, was expected to be completed by 2019.

According to him, he would also solicit the assistance of specialised local and foreign part-time and voluntary medical personnel to run the facility for efficient health care delivery.

Mr Ayariga explained that today’s world was being run by corporate bodies and not the government alone, hence the need to solicit funds from corporate bodies and philanthropists. He, therefore, appealed to them to support such a worthy cause to improve health delivery to, especially, the needy.

Mr Ayariga was of the view that health must not be bought but at least if not free, it should be affordable.

He commended Ghanaians for the support he had received in his endeavour and expressed the hope that it would continue.

He appealed to Ghanaians to lead healthy life styles and called on the government to provide the necessary resources for effective health delivery in the country.
