God has made everything beautiful in His time – Nana Addo
President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that he would work assiduously to put the country back on the path of economic progress.

In an acceptance speech closely following the Electoral Commission’s declaration that he won the 2016 polls, Nana Addo said, “I make this solemn pledge to you. I will not let you down and will do all in my power to live up to your hopes and expectations… I will do my best to serve your interest and put our country back on the path of progress and prosperity.”
Humbled by the win
Nana Addo said he was humbled by the trust Ghanaians had reposed in him by entrusting the highest office of the land into his hand.
“There’s never been a more humbling moment in my life and I thank you, the good people of Ghana for this massive show of support and the confidence you’ve reposed in me and my party,” he said.
His greatest appreciation was to the Almighty God for His grace and favour that had granted him victory.
“I thank Almighty God for His grace and favour for granting victory to the NPP and myself in this election. As His word says in the book of Ecclesiastes 3:1; He has made everything beautiful in His time.”
Commends EC
Nana Addo further congratulated the Electoral Commission for conducting what he described as a credible election.
“The electoral commission under its new leadership with Charlotte Osei in the chair is to be congratulated for organising this credible election. I am grateful to her for the announcement and words of congratulations. She and the commission have allayed the fears of many about their capacity to conduct a good election,” he said.
He acknowledged that the elections has contributed to strengthening the principles of democratic accountability in Ghana’s body politics, adding that, “the commission will take a considerable part of the credit for that welcomed outcome.”
President for all
Nana Addo assured that he would be president for all and not for members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Fellow Ghanaians you have not elected me to serve one party but to serve the entire nation. The president of Ghana is president for every single Ghanaian without discrimination, malice or ill-will to any ethnic group or political or religious affiliation.
“Whether you supported me or not, whether you campaigned for me or not, whether you voted for me or not, I can promise you one thing, I will do my best to serve your interest and put our country back on the path of progress and prosperity,” he stressed.
Avoid violence
While expressing appreciation to supporters and sympathisers of the NPP, Nana Addo further implored them to avoid violence in their celebration, stressing that the party was a party of the rule of law.
“To members and sympathisers of the great elephant family… I say a big thank you to each and every one of you for your hard work, commitment and encouragement and for your belief in me and my leadership of our party over the past eight years.”
“While this occasion may lead to widespread jubilation among supporters and sympathisers I entreat them to respect the peace and the property and lives of everybody especially those of our political opponents,” he added.
“We are the party of the rule of law and we must act accordingly with magnaminity in our moments of victory.”
