Ghanaians yearn for return of NPP – Paul Afoko

The New Patriotic Party’s national chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko, has thrown a challenge to all losing contestants in the party’s national executive posts to put the elections behind them and join forces to work towards annexing power in the 2016 elections.

Also urged to return to the fold of the party and lend support are all backsliders, for the party cannot afford to disappoint Ghanaians again at the next polls.

Addressing a maiden press conference by the party’s new executive since their election last week in Tamale, Paul Afoko said the party supporters were clear and emphatic, as per the choices of delegates, in their demand for unity and the need to work to take back power in the next general elections by electing leaders of various backgrounds.

He said the 2016 general election was of great importance to the Ghanaian people and that during his extensive travels around the country while he campaigned for office, he came to understand that Ghanaians were waiting for the NPP.

The party rank and file therefore cannot allow narrow and selfish parochial interest to get in the way of victory, he said.

“Indeed I’m inviting all who love this party to come on board. Let’s work together to take our party back to power,” he said, noting that it is in their collective interest to work together.

“Your party needs you now,” he emphasised.

Mr. Afoko also asked the police administration to expedite investigation into the shooting incident on the eve of the NPP national delegate’s conference in Tamale which resulted in the wounding of nine party supporters.
