GCPP mourns great Ghanaian patriot
The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) has suggested that the life and contribution of P. V. Obeng should be taught in schools to inspire young people to levels of excellence.

The party says Mr Obeng had been a patriot, and if the country is going to talk about icons, he was truly an icon.
This was contained in a message by the Chairman and leader of the GCPP, Dr Henry Lartey, to commiserate with Mr Obeng’s wife, children, family and friends, the entire membership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Government of Ghana .
“What a shock! I spoke with Mr P. V. Obeng on Friday at the National Economic Forum,” Dr Lartey siad in his message.
He explained that there was a lot of Mr Obeng’s legacy to be emulated, as he displayed great courage and conviction in helping to shape and run the political and economic affairs of the nation.
Dr Lartey said Mr Obeng, like many Ghanaians, loved football and he remembered seeing him cheer the Black Stars on to victory, especially during the ‘demolition’ of the Pharaohs of Egypt at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Mr Obeng, a mechanical engineer and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), died suddenly on Saturday afternoon.
Also a Senior Presidential Advisor, he is said to have died of what was suspected to be an asthmatic or heart attack.
