EC announces date for by-election at Abetifi
The Electoral Commission has announced it will hold a by-election in the Abetifi Constituency of the Eastern region on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

The by-election has been occasioned by the sudden death of the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Peter Wiafe Pepera.
In a statement it issued Wednesday to announce the impending by-election and signed by its Deputy Chair in charge of Operations, Amadu Sulley, the EC said it is in accordance with Article 112(5) of the Constitution.
"Nominations for the election will be taken on Tuesday the 21st day of June and Wednesday the 22nd day of June, 2O16 at the District Office of the Commission at Abetifi in the Eastern Region, from 9:00am to 12:00noon and 2:00pm to 5:00pm both days.
"Nomination forms may be obtained from the District Office or the Regional Office of the Commission at Koforidua.
"Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background, showing the full face and both ears."
It said the filing fee for the election is One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH01,000.00).
