Don’t relinquish your power to choose president - Nduom tells electorate

The Leader and presidential candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, has asked Ghanaians not to relinquish their power to decide who should be president to any individual or institution.

According to Dr Nduom, Ghanaians still hold the power to decide who should become the president of the country. He, therefore, posited,  “There is no reason for Ghanaians to stick to parties that have slowed the nation’s progress while they have a better option in the PPP”.

Dr Nduom, who is on a “Thank you” tour of the Central Region, said that no individual or institution should be allowed to determine who should become president.”

Dr Nduom, who was speaking to party faithful at the Abura market in Cape Coast last Monday, said the visit was to say “Thank you” to the people of the region for their show of solidarity  in his tango with the Electoral Commission (EC).

Dr Nduom, who wore white apparel and waved white handkerchief, addressed the people from the bucket of a pick-up.

He thanked the people of the area and the region in general for their support and display of love for him when he sent the EC to court for disqualifying him from contesting this year’s general election.

The Accra High Court on October 28, 2016 quashed the EC’s decision which disqualified Dr Nduom from standing for the December 7, 2016 presidential election.

EC’s response

The EC has, however, gone to the Supreme Court to contest an order quashing the disqualification of Dr Nduom.

He urged voters who wanted accelerated development to vote for him in the presidential election in December and to vote the PPP’s parliamentary candidate, Mrs Sarah Bucknor, to represent them in Parliament.

Dr Nduom earlier opened a branch of the GN Bank at Yensunkwa and a place of convenience for the people of Sanka both in the Komenda Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality of the Central Region.
