Desist from indiscriminate siting of houses - DCE
Public officials at the various assemblies who aid and abet in siting of houses indiscriminately have been cautioned to desist from such actions or face the wrath of the law.

Issuing the caution, the Atwima Nwabiagya District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Michael Awuku Amoah, noted that indiscriminate springing up of houses in waterlogged areas in the district had resulted in flooding in the area.
At the first ordinary meeting of the assembly at Nkawie in the Atwima Nwabiagya District in the Ashanti Region, the DCE said flooding had become an albatross around the neck of the assembly and would need a pragmatic and firm approach to deal with it.
“One issue that has become a problem in this district is flooding. This is as a result of improper and indiscriminate siting of houses, particularly on river courses and banks. I wish to use this opportunity to warn public officials who aid and abet such people to desist from that, henceforth,” he stated.
He said the flooding situation if not controlled could cause great harm someday and also appealed to nananom to seek assistance from the Physical Planning Department of the assembly on matters concerning land and its uses.
Support fight against sanitation
Mr Awuku Amoah said as DCE, he would need the support of all and sundry on the sanitation programme of the assembly to clear the various communities of filth.
For that to be effective, he said, there was the need to activate the relevant sanitation laws and expressed the hope that recruitment exercise by government through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) would go a long way to improve on sanitation conditions in the district.
Call for attitudinal change
Mr Awuku Amoah said it was the responsibility of citizens and leaders in the respective communities to help change society.
However, he envisaged that there was the need to heed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s call for a change in attitude and work ethics.
“We have shamefully accepted to wear the embarrassing tag of African time. We have by that accepted that we are shabby and irresponsible. Let us all join the President to reject this tag for it is demeaning and embarrassing,” he stated.
One million dollars per Constituency
Mr Awuku Amoah said efforts were far advanced to begin with the implementation of the one million dollars per constituency policy by the government.
He said a 10-member management team had been constituted at the regional level to undertake the needed assessments.
The DCE, thus, entreated all assembly members to collaborate with the members of the team, adding that part of the amount would be used to support the government’s “one-district, one-factory” project and extended to other areas, including sanitation, health and water.
