CPP launches manifesto tomorrow

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) will officially  launch the party’s  manifesto  dubbed ‘Apam foforo’ for the 2016 general election on Saturday  October 29, in Accra at the Ghana  Academy of Arts and Sciences Hall.

The manifesto will be launched by the flag bearer, Mr Ivor Greenstreet, and the National Chairman Prof. Edmund Delle, at 9 a.m.

According to the party,  the launch is to  formally sign a new covenant with Ghanaians with the view to restoring the country to the path of progress and prosperity.

It  will also  affirm the new orientation of the party and spell out its vision to redefine the development paradigm of the country as it seeks to create better socio-economic prospects for all Ghanaians.

‘’‘Apam foforo’ is a Fante expression which literally means ‘new covenant’. The ‘Apam foforo’ manifesto is the action plan that underpins CPP’s campaign to win the hearts and thumbs of the Ghanaian electorate in the December 2016 general election,’’  Prof. Edmund Delle stressed.

After the overthrow of the government of the People’s National Party (PNP) in 1981 and since the beginning of the Fourth Republic in 1992, the Nkrumaist tradition has languished in the political wilderness, having been overshadowed  by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Under the leadership of Prof. Delle, however, as the National Chairman and the flagship of Lawyer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as Presidential Candidate, the CPP has been working vigorously to rebrand the party and, more importantly, get out of the shadows of the NDC and the NPP to become a frontrunner.

“The sense of purpose and urgency which the CPP brought to national development has essentially been missing since 1966. It is time we restored it. Our people can wait no longer,” Prof.  Delle shared  some thoughts on the CPP’s development blueprint.

’’So far, the CPP flag bearer has proved equal to the task and given his competitors in the NDC and the NPP a good run for their money. Indeed, before the launch of the ‘Apam foforo’ manifesto, many of the electorate have already bought into the vision of the party, towards improving the lives of all Ghanaians,’’ Prof. Delle said.

What ‘Apam foforo’ manifesto entails

According to  Prof. Delle,  the NDC and the NPP may have gone ahead to launch their manifestos for the 2016 general election. But those manifestos are no big deals because they belong to the old order of broken promises and failed programmes. The big deal that seeks to usher Ghanaians into economic independence and prosperity is what the CPP offers in its ‘Apam foforo’ manifesto.

The ‘Apam foforo’ manifesto is a policy document that outlines the aspirations of the CPP on various issues in respect of national and international affairs. It is a response to what the national chairman believes to be “the people’s cry for a new covenant in Ghana.”
